An STMicroelectronics L7805CV positive 5 V voltage regulator in a TO-220 package, soldered to the circuit board of an Equip SW 0407 C KVM switch. The board's silkscreen marks pins 1 and 3. Used as the lead image of Testing Diodes, Transistors and Regulators.
