What it settles

[edit | edit source]
  • The clock/calendar runs on three AA cells in a clip between the power supply and the speaker, inside the cover. Apple warns that some cells leak, tells owners to check them periodically and not to use carbon-zinc cells (p. 28).
  • Hardware specifications (pp. 204-205): 17.5 × 18.2 × 4.8 in, 26 lb; 6502B at 2 MHz peak and 1.4 MHz average; minimum 128K RAM; 4K ROM for initialisation and diagnostics; switching supply at +5/−5/+12/−12 V, 100 W maximum, UL/CSA approved; ambient temperature 0 to 45 °C, where the Apple III Owner's Guide gives 15 to 35 °C.
  • The keyboard has 75 keys (62 main, 13 numeric pad) and five special keys including DELETE, where the Apple III has 74 keys and four (p. 204).
  • Text interlace gives 560 × 384 dots in 80-column text. Apple says it works best with green-phosphor and other long-persistence displays and needs the vertical hold adjusted (pp. 38-39).
  • The colour video port "supplies seven different video signals and four power supply voltages" (p. 180).
  • The security mount is an unthreaded hole 0.25 in across and 0.15 in deep, left of the internal speaker (p. 28).
