What they settle
[edit | edit source]- Apple's care instructions: a soft dry cloth on the screen, isopropyl alcohol on the case, nothing but the Newton pen on the glass (Handbook pp. vii–viii).
- Reset procedures for each generation, and the order to try them in (Handbook pp. 327–330; 2100 manual pp. 230–231; eMate manual chapter 12).
- Battery rules: never remove the main and backup batteries together on the lithium-backed models; no single rechargeable cells; about an hour without batteries on the super-capacitor models (Handbook appendix A; 2100 manual pp. 243–248).
- eMate charging: one to two hours, with the charge light green when charged and orange while charging (eMate manual appendix A).
What they do not contain
[edit | edit source]No take-apart, component or circuit information. Apple directed owners to an authorised service provider for battery replacement in the eMate and for repairs.[1]
