Color StyleWriter 2500 Service Source
The Color StyleWriter 2500 volume of Apple's Service Source is Apple's 163-page field-service manual for the Color StyleWriter 2500, "a desktop color bubble-jet printer for personal use" printing up to 3 pages per minute.[1] It shares its chassis and most of its procedures with the Color StyleWriter 2400, but runs from an external AC adapter and has no internal power supply or fuse.

Notes from the manual
[edit | edit source]- No power: check the cable and power cord, then measure the adapter's output. Replace the adapter if there is no voltage, or the logic board if the voltage is within range.[1]
- Test page: switch on and hold the online key for at least 6 seconds. The page shows the ROM revision and a nozzle pattern; there is one page for the black cartridge and one for the four-colour cartridge.[1]
- Demo units: a limited number of 2500s were sold to Apple resellers with a demo page in the logic board ROM. They are serviced as normal 2500s, but a replacement logic board loses the demo page.[1]
- The Color PhotoGrade cartridge holds four ink tanks and the print head in one unit. Apple's PhotoGrade Print Kit (M5577**/A) combined it with PhotoGrade paper and updater software, which Apple says must be used together.[1]
- Two versions of the LocalTalk module look alike. The later one is labelled as working with both the 2400 and 2500; the earlier one works only with the 2400. The EtherTalk adapter connects to the printer's serial cable and has its own power adapter.[1]
- Waste ink is handled as on the 2400: replace the ink absorbers for a waste ink full error, and reset the EEPROM after replacing the absorbers or the logic board. On the 2500 the reset works with either the black-only or the four-colour cartridge.[1]
