Summary

[edit | edit source]

Figure from IBM's Hardware Maintenance and Service manual for the IBM Personal Computer (5150), part 6025072, First Edition, August 1981, page 200-3 (Memory problem isolation chart). It is a top view of the 16KB-64KB system board RAM: the first two characters of a 201 error code (00, 04, 08, 0C) select the bank and the last two (00 for the parity chip, then 01 to 80 for bits 0 to 7) select the chip. The X marks IBM's example, code 0C40, bank 3 bit 6. The bank codes apply to the 16KB-64KB board only.
