IBM PS2 HW Interface Technical Reference - Common Interfaces (October 1990)

From RetroTechCollection

The IBM Personal System/2 Hardware Interface Technical Reference: Common Interfaces is the volume of IBM's PS/2 Technical Reference library that describes devices and interfaces common to PS/2 systems. The hosted scan is 950 pages. Its edition notice reads First Edition (October 1990), copyright 1989 and 1990, but it is a binder copy: several sections are September 1991 replacements, dated in their page footers. Each section has its own contents, figures list, page numbering and index.

The preface (p. v) lists the library: Architectures (the Micro Channel architectures), Common Interfaces (this volume), System-Specific Information (the per-model technical references), the PS/2 and PC BIOS Interface Technical Reference, and the option and adapter technical references. Vertical bars in the margin mark changes from the previous release of each section.

What this manual does not contain

[edit | edit source]

It is a programming and interface reference. There are no FRU numbers, removal procedures, schematics or component values. The Micro Channel architecture itself is in the separate Architectures volume, which is not hosted here, and model-specific details such as memory maps, supplies and connectors are in each model's own technical reference.
