IBM PS2 Model 95 XP 486 Technical Reference (October 1990)
The IBM Personal System/2 Model 95 XP 486 Technical Reference is IBM's 92-page model-specific interface reference for the PS/2 Model 95 XP 486 (8595), a floor-standing 486 Micro Channel computer, First Edition, October 1990. Like the Model 90 XP 486 book it has a fourth section on the processor complex.
Contents

What this manual does not contain
[edit | edit source]It is a programming and interface reference: no FRU numbers, removal procedures, symptom index, schematics or component values.
What it settles
[edit | edit source]From the power supply section (pp. 1-8 to 1-10):
- The input range is selected by a switch near the power cord. The system-board voltages are +5, +12 and −12 V; the internal drives receive +5 and +12 V.
- Maximum currents (Figure 1-5): 2.5 A at +12 V and 1.5 A at +5 V per fixed disk supply connector, 7.5 A and 4.6 A in total for all fixed disk drives; auxiliary device 300 mA and keyboard 275 mA.
- Each Micro Channel adapter connector may draw 2.0 A at +5 V, 0.175 A at +12 V and 0.040 A at −12 V (Figure 1-6).
- A short on any output, or an internal overvoltage before any output exceeds 130 % of nominal, latches all outputs off; the supply restarts after the fault is removed and the power switch has been off for at least one second. Outputs track within 50 ms at power-on.
- Three 4-pin internal connectors carry +12 V on pin 1, DC return on pins 2 and 3, +5 V on pin 4 (Figure 1-7).
The physical specifications (Figure 1-3, p. 1-6) give 203 × 508 × 501 mm, 22-30 kg, heat output 515 W (1757 BTU/hour), input 90-137 V or 180-265 V at a maximum of 9.2 A or 4.6 A, and 0.18-0.78 kVA.
