What it settles

[edit | edit source]
  • Specifications: 68030 at 15.667 MHz with 256-byte instruction and data caches and a PMMU; 68882 FPU; 1 or 4 MB RAM, expandable to 32 MB; 256 KB ROM; one 030 direct slot with a 120-pin connector; 120–240 V AC, 48–62 Hz, 75 W maximum; 21.5 lb (pp. 5–12).
  • PRAM battery: replace below 2.8 V, measured on the 10 V DC range with the logic board out (p. 71).
  • Symptom charts: the SE's charts, with PRAM reset added as a cure for a cursor that does not move, and without the memory-jumper steps (pp. 15–26).
  • Video adjustment targets: raster 7 in wide by 4.7 in high; focus fully clockwise then back one-eighth of a turn (pp. 86–87).
  • Module part numbers: analogue board 661-0371, power supply 661-0370 and video board 982-0024, all the same as the SE; logic board 661-0527; front bezel 630-5499; CRT and yoke 076-0103; 1.4 MB drive 661-0474; 40 MB hard disk 661-0216 (p. 89).

These figures are cited on Macintosh SE/30, Macintosh SE/30 General Maintenance, Macintosh SE/30 Memory Upgrade Guide and Macintosh SE/30 Capacitor Replacement Guide.

What this manual does not contain

[edit | edit source]
  • No schematics and no component values. The exploded view gives module part numbers only. The logic board schematic is on Macintosh SE/30 Logic Board Schematic; Apple's analogue board drawing is File:Classic Analog Board Schematic.pdf, whose internal title is "SE30_Analog_Board".
  • No Upgrades chapter, so no memory configurations. Apple's SE/30 SIMM rules are in the Guide to the Macintosh Family Hardware, pp. 209–211.
  • No voltage adjustment and no rail limits. The Adjustments chapter covers the yoke and the video controls only. Apple published the supply's output limits, shared with the SE, in the Guide to the Macintosh Family Hardware (Table 6-15, p. 259).
  • No faulty-SIMM table: the Sad Mac chart refers to "Isolating a Faulty SIMM" in a separate Apple memory manual.
