Mastering the Commodore 64
Mastering the Commodore 64 is a 1983 book by Mark Greenshields, published in London by Interface Publications, with a foreword by Tim Hartnell. ISBN 0-907563-38-4.[1] The numbered pages run to 219, and the British Library record gives the same extent. Prentice-Hall published an American edition in 1984 (ISBN 0-13-559535-5).[2]
The book teaches the whole of Commodore 64 BASIC and then 6510 machine code. Each topic is taken twice, first in BASIC and then in machine code: colour, animation, sound and music, programmable characters and sprites. The BASIC section also covers high-resolution graphics without Simon's BASIC, converting programs from other machines' BASICs, and using a printer, a 1540 or 1541 disk drive, joysticks and cassette files. The machine code section adds the machine's architecture and interrupts. The appendices include a full memory map with the Kernal routines.[3]
