RetroTechCollection:User pages

From RetroTechCollection

Every registered user on RetroTechCollection has a user page (User:Name) and a user talk page (User talk:Name). Users who edit without logging in have a talk page at their IP address.

Your user page

[edit source]

Use your user page to say what vintage hardware you work on: your collection, your current projects and the platforms you know. Getting started has an example layout.

Keep it about your work on the wiki and vintage technology; the wiki is not a web host for personal content (section 1.3 of the Terms of Use). Do not share more personal information than you are happy to make public. Disclose any conflict of interest here (section 6.2.3). A bot's user page describes what the bot does (section 8.1).

User pages are normally edited only by their owner. To contact someone, use their talk page.

User talk pages

[edit source]

Other users leave messages, questions and notices on your talk page, and you are notified when they do. Administrators leave warnings there too. Reply on the same page. Blocked users can usually still edit their own talk page to appeal; see RetroTechCollection:Blocking policy. Help:Talk pages explains how to post and reply.

Subpages

[edit source]

You can create subpages of your user page, for example a sandbox for drafting new pages at Special:MyPage/sandbox.
