Service Training Laserwriter Select Service Course Version 1.1 1996

From RetroTechCollection

The LaserWriter Select Service Course (Service Training Participant Manual, Version 1.1) is an Apple self-study service training course book from Apple Service Training Development, copyright 1993 and 1996 Apple Computer, part number 072-0399-B on the back cover. The scan is 65 PDF pages.[1] It covers the LaserWriter Select family, and the text distinguishes the Select 300, 310 and 360.[2]

It is a course book, not a service manual. The modules list objectives and activities, send the reader to Apple Service Source (CD version 2.0, February 1996 or later) and the LaserWriter Select Service Training videotape for the procedures, and modules 1 and 3 end with a test.[3]

What it settles

[edit | edit source]

The DC controller board controls the printer, distributes DC power and prints the service test page when pins 1 and 2 of connector P32 are jumpered. An access hole in the I/O controller mount directly in front of P32 lets the pins be jumpered without removing the I/O controller shield or mount. For the full list of cable connectors Apple refers to the Circuit Board Diagrams section of the Troubleshooting chapter of the LaserWriter Select manual on Apple Service Source.[5] The drive assembly (main motor and drive transfer gears) drives the rest of the printer, and the cassette tray holds up to 250 sheets.[6] The Select 300 reports diagnostic errors on the Macintosh screen when printed to; on the 310 and 360 the LEDs go out in sequence during the power-on self-test, and the 360 alone has diagnostic LEDs for an engine test.[2]

What it does not contain

[edit | edit source]

No schematics, parts list or component values, and no electrical specifications; those are in LaserWriter Select Service Source. The videotape is not part of the scan.
