From RetroTechCollection

The Magic of Macintosh: Programming Graphics and Sound is a 1986 book by William B. Twitty, published by Scott, Foresman and Company, Glenview, Illinois; copyright William B. Twitty and Pacific Systems, Inc. ISBN 0-673-18253-3; Library of Congress QA76.8.M3T84 1986, card number 86-3750.[1] The Library of Congress record gives the extent as 314 pages.[2]

Twitty's preface says the book introduces QuickDraw graphics and sound to programmers with no graphics background, explaining each idea with an example program. The examples are in Macintosh Pascal and use only the toolbox routines for graphics and sound. Chapters 7 and 8 go beyond QuickDraw into object drawing, spline curves and fractals. The preface names Programming the Macintosh: An Advanced Guide as the first book in the series.[3] Chapter 9 covers the Macintosh's square-wave, free-form and four-voice sound synthesizers.[4]
