Video Board Parts List (2 of 3)

From RetroTechCollection

Sheet 2 of Commodore's Display Assembly Component Cross Reference for the Commodore PET 2001 gives items 25 to 53 of the 70-item list: the two RF chokes, the transistors and the first resistors, by reference designator, description and Commodore part number. Sheet 1 has the capacitors, diodes and connectors, and sheet 3 the remaining resistors, spark gaps, transformers and regulator. The sheet carries the Commodore Business Machines, Palo Alto letterhead. The scan comes from the zimmers.net Commodore archive, which files it as the parts list for the video board.[1]

Commodore calls this board the display assembly. It runs the monitor from low-voltage AC supplied by the transformer in the case; see Video Board Parts List (1 of 3) for the supplies it generates.

Reading the sheet

[edit | edit source]

Items 48 and 51 print the same part number, 901600-31, for a 270 Ω resistor and a 220 Ω resistor; one of the two is a misprint. Check the colour bands on the board.

The two potentiometers are the display's adjustments. The service schematic labels R9 "brightness" and R20 "vert. size", and its notes say R20 is mounted perpendicular to the board for screwdriver adjustment and R9 sits at the rear of the PCB on a 1/4-inch shaft about 2 inches long.[2]

The list gives MJE13006 or SJE1685 for Q14. The service schematic adds TIP55A as a third choice, and the placement drawing shows how to fit a TIP-55A on heatsink H2.[2][3]

What the parts list does not contain

[edit | edit source]

Q9, the TIP29 in the vertical output stage, is on the schematic and the placement drawing but not on this sheet.[2][3]
