The Atari 835 documentation below comprises Atari's field service manual for the Atari 835 Direct Connect Modem and the set-up leaflet from The Communicator II kit.
835 Direct Connect Modem Field Service Manual
[edit | edit source]The 835 Direct Connect Modem Field Service Manual is Atari's service manual for the modem, part number FD100268, Rev. 01, dated March 1983. The hosted copy is the Internet Archive's 43-page text-layer version of the scan, including the oversize silkscreen and two-page schematic that were stapled to the front cover of the printed manual.[1]

What this manual does not contain
[edit | edit source]- Capacitors and resistors in the parts list, which gives only the chips, zeners, crystal, transformer, relay, connectors, cords, housings, adaptor and cartridge. Capacitor values appear only on the schematic.
- A disassembly procedure.
- The 835 test diskette itself, which the test procedure requires.

The Communicator II: Getting Started
[edit | edit source]The Communicator II: Getting Started is the four-page illustrated set-up leaflet from The Communicator II kit, Atari part number C024438-001 Rev. A. It shows, in ten steps, how to connect the 835 to its adaptor, the computer, the telephone and the wall jack, how to add a printer or an Atari 850, how to insert the TeleLink II cartridge, and the modem's self-test at switch-on. The TeleLink II cartridge has its own owner's guide, C061183.[2]
