IBM PS2 Model 70 Hardware Maintenance Reference

From RetroTechCollection

The IBM PS/2 Model 70 Hardware Maintenance Reference is IBM's service reference pamphlet for the PS/2 Model 70 (8570), part number 64F3993, form number S64F-3993-00, First Edition, dated 21 March 1990. The hosted copy is a 53-page PDF made in 2009 from IBM's BookManager edition, numbered by topic.

The 16 MHz and 20 MHz systems and the 25 MHz systems are treated separately: the math coprocessor, memory-module and system-board procedures differ, and the 25 MHz systems have a separate processor board (procedure 1052).

There is no parts list, symptom-to-FRU index, schematic or component values.

What it settles

[edit | edit source]

The supply switches automatically between 100-125 V and 200-240 V. Its outputs are +5, +12 and −12 V, with minimum under-voltage sense levels of +4.5, +10.8 and −10.2 V. After the system has been off for 10 seconds or more, power-on produces Power Good, which lights the green light on the front; "If the green light is not on, the power supply is not functioning properly" (3.1).
