What it settles

[edit | edit source]

Volume III chapter 2, The Macintosh Hardware, describes the 128K and 512K Macintosh from the programmer's side: the video interface, sound generator, SCC, mouse, keyboard and keypad, disk interface, real-time clock, VIA and system startup. The figures there are addresses, registers and timings, not voltages to measure.[4] Appendix D lists the low-memory system globals with their addresses.[3]

What this document does not contain

[edit | edit source]

It is a programming reference, not a repair source. There are no service procedures, parts lists, schematics, supply voltages or component values. Apple's service documentation for these machines is on Macintosh 128K/512K Service Source. The hosted scan is 1,258 pages, including the covers.
