What it settles
[edit | edit source]The component listings give the mains-side parts for each supply. On the Apple II's AA11040, C1 is a 0.1 µF 400 V polyester capacitor, C2-C5 are four 47 µF 250 V electrolytics, F1 is a 2.75 A 250 V fuse, R1 is a 4 Ω inrush thermistor and VDR1 is a 260 VAC varistor; the supply has a 115/230 V selection switch.[2] On the AA11040/B, C1 is a 0.1 µF 250 VAC metallised-paper capacitor, C5, C6, C24 and C25 are 47 µF 250 V electrolytics, F1 is a 2.75 A 125 V fuse and R1 is a 4 Ω or 5 Ω thermistor.[3] The two Apple II boards differ enough that parts should be ordered against the listing for the board in hand.
What it does not contain
[edit | edit source]It has no fault-finding or adjustment procedure for the supplies; the two Astec papers at the back describe power-supply principles in general. The package itself notes that Astec might supply replacements under different part numbers, that not all Astec parts were yet available from Apple, and that the cross reference covers only about 40% of the parts by Apple part number.[4]
