Understanding Apple Basic 1983

From RetroTechCollection

Understanding Apple BASIC: Step-by-Step Instruction for the Beginner is a 1983 book by Richard G. Peddicord in the Alfred Handy Guide series (computer series editor George Ledin Jr.), published by Alfred Publishing Co., Sherman Oaks, California. ISBN 0-88284-246-3; Library of Congress QA76.8.A662P43 1983, card number 83-15554.[1] The book runs to 60 pages, as the Library of Congress record also gives.[2]

It is a pocket introduction to Applesoft BASIC on the Apple II, not the Macintosh. Each short chapter covers one statement or technique with a worked example, ending with low- and high-resolution colour graphics, disk commands and sequential files.[3] The copyright page states that the guide "is not a publication of Apple Computer Inc. and should not be used in lieu of the instruction manuals that accompany their products".[1]
