Philips CDI 210 Service Manuals
The Philips CDI 210 service manuals are the four service manuals that Philips Interactive Media Systems, Service & Support, published for the Philips CDI 210 CD-i player, one for each hardware revision. ICDIA distributes three of them together as one 138-page PDF and the 210/20 manual as a separate file; here each is hosted on its own, without other changes.[1]

The 210/00, 210/40 and 210/60 scans come from freeservicemanuals.info and carry its watermark on every page.[1] The 210/20 file is a cleaner scan of A3 sheets, two manual pages to each PDF page, with no watermark; its PDF metadata names the Internet Archive's PDF software as the producer.[3]

All four manuals follow the same order as the CDI 220 manuals of the same period: product information (specification, connections, setting up), service information (safety, SMD and ESD handling, the central repair procedure for the mainboard), mechanical drawings (exploded views of the cabinet and loader), service software, electrical drawings (block and wiring diagrams, circuit diagrams and PCB layouts), diagnostics with measurements and adjustments, and parts lists.[4][3][5]
The 210/20 manual's table of contents, for example, runs: 2 product information; 3 service information, ending with 3.6 the monoboard central repair procedure; 4 mechanical drawings; 5 service software; 6 electrical drawings (power supply panel, control and display panel, monoboard with the µP, glue logic and digital audio, digital video, FMV interface, servo, analogue audio and analogue video circuit diagrams); 7 diagnostics; 8 parts lists of the cabinet, tray loader, display and power supply panel, monoboard, and accessories and service tools.[3]
What these manuals do not contain
[edit | edit source]- The 210/00 manual's service software chapter describes the front display and keyboard test but marks it "not for CDI200 and CDI210".[6]
- The microprocessor, digital audio and digital video sections of every board are central-repair items; the parts lists cover the whole board, but the manuals give no repair procedure for those sections beyond the low-level test.[3]
- The parts list in the 210/40 manual names some parts as CDI 220 parts ("IKAT CDI220/PH.IV", "ASSY NVRAM 32k x8"), which suggests it was taken over from the 220/60 manual without editing.[7]
- The Digital Video cartridges are not covered.
