The Sharp PC-1350 is a pocket computer made by Sharp Corporation, introduced in 1984, with a four-line, 24-character LCD that can also show 150 × 32 dot graphics, BASIC in 40 KB of ROM, 4 KB of RAM, a slot for an 8 KB or 16 KB RAM card and a 15-pin serial port.[1][3][4] It runs on two CR2032 lithium cells. Sharp's service manual for it is dated September 1984.[6][7] The Sharp PC-1360 followed it with two RAM card slots and a larger ROM.[8]

Hardware
[edit | edit source]
| Function | Part |
|---|---|
| Processor | SC61860A13, with 8 KB of internal ROM |
| Gate array | SC60220, decoding chip selects for the RAM and display[9] |
| LCD driver | SC43537 |
| LCD | LF-7117E, 150 × 32 dots (LCD unit DUNT-8038CCZZ) |
| System ROM | 32 KB on the memory board: SC613256 in the block diagram; the parts list also has an LH535624 and describes the memory PWB unit as "ROM: LH535624" |
| RAM | Two HM6116 (2 KB each), on the memory board |
| Crystal | 768 kHz |
| Connectors | 11-pin peripheral connector; 15-pin serial (SIO) connector |
| Boards | Main PWB unit DUNTK8039CCZZ; memory PWB unit DUNTK8040CCZZ |
Two CR2032 cells supply the machine through a resistor (R1) and the BD1 diode pair, with a 3.3 µF capacitor (C1) across the supply. A 20 kΩ variable resistor (VR1) sets the LCD drive voltage, and a resistor divider (R10 to R13) with three 1 µF capacitors (C2 to C4) produces the LCD bias levels.[10][11]
Sharp's figures for current: 20 µA maximum with the power off, 500 µA maximum while displaying and 5 mA maximum during calculation, at 20 °C.[12]
RAM cards
[edit | edit source]The CE-201M (8 KB) and CE-202M (16 KB) RAM cards each carry a CR2025 lithium cell, which Sharp rates at 120 mAh and says keeps a CE-201M's contents for about 34 months and a CE-202M's for about 18 months. The PC-1350 does not work unless the card lock switch is set to LOCK.[12][5] The RAM cards for the PC-1350 cannot be used in the PC-1360.[8]
Documentation
[edit | edit source]Sharp's PC-1350 service manual is hosted on the wiki and described on Sharp PC-1350 Documentation: File:Sharp PC-1350 Service Manual.pdf. It covers the specifications, cell life, current consumption, a test procedure using a test RAM card, the LSIs, the RAM cards, circuit diagrams, board drawings and parts lists.[3]
General maintenance
[edit | edit source]Cells, the re-initialisation after a cell change, RAM cards and cleaning are covered in Sharp PC-1350 General Maintenance.
Troubleshooting
[edit | edit source]Sharp's current limits, cell thresholds and display and key tests are applied in Sharp PC-1350 Troubleshooting Guide.
Capacitor replacement
[edit | edit source]The main board has four small polarised capacitors, C1 to C4, listed in Sharp's service manual. See Sharp PC-1350 Capacitor Replacement Guide.
