Sharp MZ-5600 Service Manual

The Sharp MZ-5600 Service Manual is Sharp Corporation's service manual for the MZ-5600 personal computer, code 00ZMZ5600SM/E. The MZ-5600 is the export version of the Sharp MZ-6500, sold as the MZ-5631, MZ-5641 and MZ-5645. The copy on the wiki is a 143-page scan with an OCR text layer, from the SharpMZ site (formerly sharpmz.org).[1][2][3]

The parts most used for repair:

  • Section 16, the power circuit, with Sharp's adjustment limits and its nine-step bench procedure (PDF pages 81 to 84).[4]
  • Section 17, the self check and its error codes (PDF pages 85 and 86).[5]
  • The power supply board circuit (PDF page 107), hosted as File:Sharp MZ-5600 power supply circuit (service manual).png, and the power supply parts lists (PDF pages 132 and 133), which give every secondary-board capacitor with its reference.[6]

What this manual does not contain

  • It covers the export MZ-5600. Japanese MZ-6500 models (the A, B and C versions and the MZ-6550) are not described.[1][3]
  • The CPU board parts list gives component types and values without references.[6]
  • The power supply parts list and circuit disagree in places: C17 is 330 µF in the list and 220 µF on the circuit, and C22 and C24 appear in the list but not on the circuit page.[6]
  • No written disassembly procedure for the system unit.[1]
  • The service check program described in the separate Sharp MZ-5600A Diagnostic Manual is not part of this manual.[1]
