Apple Two-Page Monochrome Monitor
The Apple Two-Page Monochrome Monitor (also called the Macintosh Two-Page Monochrome Display) is a 21-inch greyscale monitor that shows two letter-size pages side by side at 1152 × 870. Apple introduced it in March 1989 and discontinued it in December 1992.[1] Low End Mac dates the launch to 7 March 1989, with the Macintosh IIcx and the Macintosh Two-Page Monochrome Video Card, at US$2,149.[2]

Hardware
[edit | edit source]The display has a video board (661-0452), a deflection board (661-0451) and a power supply (661-0453), with an on/off switch and filter assembly (937-0040) and a contrast/brightness assembly. The CRT assembly is 076-0320 and the tilt-and-swivel stand 815-0558.[1] A bleeder resistor sits on the floor of the chassis; Apple's take-apart describes both a cigar-shaped and a box-shaped version.[3]
The fuse is on the power supply board. Apple's Service Source notes that some displays with serial numbers between 43661GXW and 44718HQX were fitted with a 1.6 A fuse, which is the wrong value; the correct fuse is 2.5 A. The service guide parts list gives 2.5 A, 250 V (941-0016).[3][1]
The parts list names two video cables, DB15 to DB25 (590-0615) and DB25 to DB25 (590-0574).[1]
Known issues
[edit | edit source]- Apple's charts cover no raster, geometry, synchronisation, video, the stand and a jitter fault that is not the display's: a wavy or jittery picture at 1152 × 870 on a Power Macintosh 9600 with an Apple/IMS video card with a serial number below Fx705xxx, which Apple fixed by replacing the card (661-1409).[3]
- A stand that will not swivel or tilt usually has its "Front" marks misaligned or its snap-lock assembly or plastic plug missing.[3]
See Apple Two-Page Monochrome Monitor Troubleshooting Guide and Apple Two-Page Monochrome Monitor General Maintenance, which has Apple's geometry sizes and the 31 foot-lambert video setting. Read CRT Discharge Procedure before opening the display.
