SGI O2+ Documentation
SGI O2+ Documentation describes the Silicon Graphics manuals hosted here for the SGI O2+. SGI sent O2+ owners to the O2's own owner's guide and hardware reference guide; those are covered on the SGI O2 pages.[1]
Silicon Graphics O2+ Workstation Hardware Reference Guide (007-4486-001)
[edit | edit source]SGI's hardware reference guide for the O2+, document number 007-4486-001, version 001 of January 2002, revised from the O2 hardware reference guide. Written by Judy Muchowski and updated by Linda Rae Sande and Chrystie Danzer; 252 pages in the PDF. SGI's own electronic edition with searchable text.[2]
Contents: 1 getting started (front and rear views pp. 2-3, setup, shutdown, O2Cam, lockbar, serial number); 2 memory and option boards (system module removal p. 27, memory pp. 32-37, PCI boards and trays for RM7000-class and R12000-class machines pp. 38-66, refitting the system module p. 69); 3 peripherals (second internal drive in an RM7000-class machine, SCSI, serial, audio and video); 4 troubleshooting: LED flow charts (pp. 103-105), power-on, confidence and IDE tests (pp. 106-107), crash recovery (p. 108), password jumper (p. 111); 5 replacement parts: system module (p. 119), CPU modules (pp. 120-136), system drive (p. 137), audio-visual module (p. 142), power supply (pp. 149-157), CD-ROM drive (p. 158), chassis (p. 176), PCI tray board (p. 178); 6 safety and regulatory information; appendix A connector pinouts (pp. 189-206), O2 camera (p. 207) and physical environment (Table A-19, p. 208).[2]
The guide works at module level. It has no schematics, no component lists and no power supply output specifications. Its workstation dimensions in Table A-19 (12 × 9 × 5 in) disagree with the O2 chassis figures in SGI's site preparation guide; see SGI O2+.

[edit | edit source]A two-page note from 2001 shipped with the machine. It describes the O2+ as an O2 with twice the memory, twice the disk capacity, a new processor and a purple case, and refers owners to the O2 Workstation Owner's Guide and O2 Workstation Hardware Reference Guide for setup, connections and troubleshooting.[1]
