Philips CDI 670 Capacitor Replacement Guide

Component side of the Mono IV main panel (CDI 220/80 service manual), the board family used in the 670

No capacitor list for the Philips CDI 670 has been published. There is no service manual for the player in ICDIA's index, and retrostuff.org reports that none exists for its 20PS307 power supply.[1][2] What can be said with sources is below.

Main board

[edit | edit source]

The 670 uses the large Mono IV main board.[3] The only published parts list for that board family is in Philips' service manual for the CDI 220/80, which lists 29 capacitors of 1 µF and above on the main panel, from 1 µF 50 V to 1000 µF 6.3 V; fourteen of them are 47 µF 25 V.[4] The full list with positions and Philips part numbers is on the Philips CDI 660 Capacitor Replacement Guide. Treat it as a guide only: the 220/80 is a consumer player with 8 KB NVRAM, while the 670 has the 32 KB circuit, so its board is not identical.[4][3][5] Compare each position with your own board before ordering.

[2] The capacitor values in this supply are not published. Unplug the player and leave the power switch on for a while before working on it, and treat the large filter capacitors as live until you have measured them.[2] Write down each value and rating from the part before removing it.

Other boards

[edit | edit source]

The Digital Video cartridge and the front panels of the 670 have not been documented, so their capacitors have to be listed from the player itself.

For signs of failure, see Capacitor Failure Symptoms.
