From RetroTechCollection

Philips's P 2000 C System Reference and Service Manual is hosted on the wiki as File:Philips P2000C System Reference and Service Manual.pdf. It is the only service document for the Philips P2000C found for the wiki; the Field Service and Field Support manuals for the Philips P2000T and Philips P2000M are described on Philips P2000 Documentation.

System Reference and Service Manual

[edit | edit source]

The title page gives the publication number 5103 993 30422, "First reprint week 417 (incorporating AL 1)" and "Copyright by Philips, 1984".[1] The preface says the manual is meant both for users who want to understand how the machine works and for service technicians, and that it includes a spare part catalogue with ordering instructions.[2] The spare part catalogue covers the P 2010 and P 2012 and the options, and its pages are dated between October 1983 and April 1984.[3]

The hosted copy is the archive.org scan as uploaded, 366 pages. The preface (pages iii and iv) is bound out of order, between the contents list of Appendix C and its page C-1.[4]

What it settles

[edit | edit source]
  • The power supply and the monitor are serviced by replacement. The manual gives the supply's output voltages, currents and connector pins for go/no-go testing, and the monitor's adjustments, but no circuit diagram or parts list for either.[6][7]
  • The mainboard and terminal board are covered to component level, with circuit diagrams, component location drawings and parts lists that include their electrolytic capacitors.[3][5]
  • The maintenance program and the debugger built into the IPL ROM are described in full in Appendix C, including the meaning of each floppy error message.[8]

What it does not contain

[edit | edit source]
  • No circuit diagram or component list for the power supply unit, the monitor, the distribution board or the TEAC disk drives; for the drives the manual refers to TEAC's own specifications.[6][7][9]
