Philips CDI 615 Capacitor Replacement Guide

No capacitor list for the Philips CDI 615 has been published. Philips' service manual for the 615 has not been found, and retrostuff.org reports that none exists for its 20PS307 power supply.[1][2] ICDIA lists the 615 among the players whose diagrams are in the Mono IV service manuals, and the large Mono IV main board it uses is the same family as the board in the CDI 220/80.[1][3]
Main board
[edit | edit source]The CDI 220/80 service manual's main panel parts list has 29 capacitors of 1 µF and above, from 1 µF 50 V to 1000 µF 6.3 V, fourteen of them 47 µF 25 V.[4] The full list with positions and Philips part numbers is on the Philips CDI 660 Capacitor Replacement Guide. It is the 220/80's list, not the 615's: the 615 has the 32 KB NVRAM circuit, which the 220/80 does not, so compare each position on your own board before ordering.[3][5]
Power supply
[edit | edit source]The 615's supply is the internal 20PS307 (Philips 3122 427 20082 for the European version), a 100–240 V switched-mode unit with +5 V, −5 V and +12 V outputs, an IEC C14 inlet, a T1.0A mains fuse (1101) and two MP315 fuses (1200, 1201) on the +5 V side.[2] Its capacitor values are not published. Unplug the player and leave the power switch on for a while before opening the supply, and treat the large filter capacitors as live until you have measured them.[2]
Floppy drive and extension slot
[edit | edit source]The 615 has a 3.5-inch floppy drive on the front and an extension slot at the back for cards made to order.[6] Neither the drive model nor any extension card for the 615 has been documented, so list their capacitors from the parts themselves.
