Panasonic FS-A1 Schematic
The Panasonic FS-A1 Schematic is a hand-traced circuit diagram and parts list of the Panasonic FS-A1 main board, drawn by BABAX from a board marked DFUP0110ZAP2 ("FS-A1 board Rev.02", serial 6LAKC36747). The hosted file is revision 01a, dated 14 April 2015, and runs to 7 pages in Japanese with English part descriptions. The drawing credits niga2 for information on the FS-A1 and FS-A1mkII boards.[1] It is a community reverse-engineered drawing, not a Panasonic document. No Panasonic service manual for the FS-A1 has been found.
The PDF was linked from the MSX Resource Center forum thread "PANASONIC FS-A1 MSX2 SCHEMATICS" after BABAX's original blog closed; one member reported using it to repair his own FS-A1.[2]
Contents
[edit | edit source]- Page 1: the complete main board circuit: Z80 (IC12), S1985 (IC14), V9938 (IC8) with video RAM IC4 to IC7, main RAM IC10 and IC11, gate array M60002A-0108FP (IC13), mask ROM (IC3), the hybrid board IC1, slots, keyboard, joystick and printer ports, and the power circuit. The power input CN3 is rated DC 9 V 1.2 A and AC 18 V 170 mA; +5 V comes from an M5236L regulator (IC18) with a 2SB941-Q pass transistor (Q3), and ±12 V from a 78L12 (IC16) and a 79L12 (IC17). The backup battery is drawn as 2 × 1.5 V. Notes cover the reset IC (MN1280-R, output low below 4.0 to 4.3 V) and starting with ESC held.

- Pages 3 to 5: parts list of the main board: every capacitor with its value and voltage, resistors, ICs, crystals (21.47727 MHz and 32.768 kHz), connectors and jumpers.
- Pages 6 and 7: parts list of the hybrid board BX7396WB (ROHM BA7230LS encoder, 74LS123, BA6993F and BA4558F op-amps, with its capacitors and resistors).
What this drawing does not contain
[edit | edit source]- It is traced from one board. The parts list notes that part numbers may differ between production lots, and other board versions (DFUP0110ZAP, ZAP1 and ZAP3) are not drawn apart from the ROM sub-board.[1]
- Several semiconductor types are marked with a question mark (the switching diodes and the hybrid board's transistors).[1]
- There are no voltages, waveforms, adjustment procedures or disassembly instructions.
