Philips VG-8010 Documentation

One Philips service manual covers both the Philips VG-8010 and the Philips VG-8000, and it includes the VU-0022 external power supply that both computers use, the same supply as the Philips VG-5000.
VG 8000 / VG 8010 service manual
[edit | edit source]File:Philips VG-8000 VG-8010 Service Manual.pdf is Philips's Service Manual, Home computer VG 8000/00/19/20, VG 8010/00/19, 26 pages, with the specification, notes and adjustments in English, Dutch, French, German and Italian. The cover refers to a separate Repair method VG8000. The scan was made by Hans Otten in 2001 from an original supplied by Bas Kornalijnslijper of the MCWF.[1]

| 18 | Service Information CT85-2 of 7 February 1985: in some VG 8000 and VG 8010 units crystal X871 on the PAL encoder is replaced by an oscillator circuit |
| 19 to 26 | Circuit diagrams: PAL/CVBS encoder, main board, keyboard matrix including the French layout, 32K RAM board, RGB encoder |
What it does not contain
[edit | edit source]- The electrical parts lists are selections of replaceable parts. For the computer they list only the four 10 µF electrolytics on each encoder board, and for the supply C196, C197, C200 and C203; the other electrolytics appear only on the circuit diagrams.[1]
- There is no troubleshooting chart. The Repair method VG8000 named on the cover is a separate document; the MSX Archive's service manual directory, which holds this manual, has no copy of it.[2]
- An MSX Resource Center member could not find the reset circuit in it; it is drawn on the main board diagram and listed on the functional diagram.[3]
VU-0022 power supply manual
[edit | edit source]Philips's separate service manual for the VU-0022, part number 4822 727 15121, is hosted as File:Philips VU-0022 Power Supply Service Manual 4822 727 15121.pdf and described on Philips VG-5000 Documentation. Its circuit diagram carries the same drawing number, 36498 C12, as the supply diagram in the VG 8000 / VG 8010 manual.[1]
